This is a new 24km long fully automated medium capacity rail transit system in western Singapore. The 24 stations will serve Choa Chu Kang, Boon Lay, Jurong Industrial Estate, Jurong East, Jurong West, West Coast and Tengah.
The JRL will improve the resilience of the rail network and provide commuters with alternative travel routes. It will also serve the Jurong Lake District, supporting plans to transform the area into Singapore’s largest commercial hub outside the Central Business District.
The project scope is the design of rail alignment and 11 over-ground stations, including 3 interchanges for the northern and eastern portions of the line. Standardised typologies have been developed for the stations to reinforce a line identity through architectural expression.
